RJ Magee is a professional educator, actor, director, talent manager, and casting director, with the majority of his time spent as a college theatre professor in higher education. RJ maintains his professional obligations (outside of academia) so that he can constantly train, advise, support, and prepare his students through the lens of what is expected of them from the professional world...in real time. Thus, bringing in an unmatched 'boots on the ground' approach to educating young theatre artists. A graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, RJ also holds a BA from Temple University and an MFA from Minnesota State University, Mankato. RJ recently concluded appointments as the Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre/Acting at both Midwestern State University and Longwood University.

He has also worked as a guest artist, workshop instructor, and adjudicator at prestigious training programs and conferences including the University of Alabama, Oregon Thespians State Festival, Elon University, Virginia Theatre Association, Weber State University, Florida Thespians State Festival, KCACTF Region V, Perry-Mansfield, Actors Connection, and many more. At the 2025 Musical Theatre Educators' Alliance Conference in NYC, RJ spoke on an invited panel regarding the topic of “Acting Methodologies and Collaborating with Non-MT Performance Faculty.” His collegiate theatre students have previously collaborated with Pyramid, Inc, an arts-focused, non-profit Adult Day Training program for adults with intellectual disabilities in Tampa, Florida, as well as the highly-acclaimed Broadway Dreams Foundation.

Finally, during his time at Longwood, RJ received a formal commendation from CHI, the oldest service organization at Longwood, for the ways that he “reinvigorated Longwood’s Theatre department.” The anonymous letter from CHI went on to state that, “As a new professor at Longwood, your students have felt your unwavering support and passion as they pursue their lives in theatre.”
