RJ's award-winning directorial credits have run the gamut from academic to professional, summer stock to theatre for young audiences. His recent directing projects include Little Shop of Horrors, 1984, and Baby. He also wrote the libretto and directed the 2023 Minnesota State University, Mankato children's production, Not All Heroes Wear Capes. This original musical toured local elementary schools and is currently available for licensing. RJ began his career as an assistant and associate director to renowned stage directors such as Peter Reynolds, Bill Roudebush, and Brenna Geffers. Directorially, he looks for new ways to represent a piece visually. His projects are known for startling, emotional, colorful, and abstract stage images that are always in service of the text.
